The P-01 9mm (designated the P-06 in .40 S&W) was designed for LE and Military duty, but its compact size and the reduced weight due to its forged alloy frame made it ideal for discrete carry as well. Equipped with a decocker, the P-01 provides convenience for those who prefer hammer-down carry.
The P-01 was the first CZ model to benefit from updated manufacturing technology at CZ's Uhersky Brod factory. The components of the P-01/P-06 are completely interchangable with every other P-01/P-06, with no individual fitting required. This required some very careful re-design so that the reliability and accuracy were not impaired. Since the time of its introduction (designed in 2001, NATO-approved in 2003) the production upgrades have been rolled out to most of the CZ 75 family and several new rifle models as well. The 1913 accessory rail easily accepts any of the industry-standard lights and lasers to assist low-light use. After 3 years of some of the most aggressive small arms testing ever, the CZ P-01 won the honor of replacing the CZ 75s previously used by the Czech National Police.
Reliability: The U.S. Army "Mean Rounds Between Failure" (MRBF) requirement is 495 rounds for 9mm pistols. During testing of the CZ P-01, the average number of stoppages was only 7 per 15,000 rounds fired. This is a .05% failure rate or an MRBF of 2142!
For many years, the P-01 carried an NSN engraved on its frame, making it the first NATO-spec pistol ever available to the public. Recently, the factory decided to upgrade the slide stop spring which in turn means the current models may not carry the NSN.

This is the first handgun I've ever owned and I couldn't be more please with it. It is a perfect fit for my hand and is very accurate. I'm a brand new shooter and scored a 248/250 on my CHL quals after 3 range visits to practice. I was VERY nervous about owning a gun but the simplicity and functionality of this has eased my worries. Absolutely love it!!!
I bought my P-01 in 2006. Since then, I've carried it with me every day. It's fed 15,000 rounds without a single stop or failure that I can't attribute to operator handling. Everyone I meet first calls it the ugliest thing they've ever seen, then once tried says it's beautiful. It is a perfectly accurate, ergonomically complete long-distance holepunch. And I loves it.
Awesome gun. Very accurate. Now I want the standard size probably the tactical.
I already have a Compact model but wanted the lighter weight of the PO1 alloy frame. It is a delightful shooting pistol. Accuracy was good and recoil mild. CZ makes a really fine product. They can be habit-forming.
I am a first time handgun owner and took my wife shooting her first time ever with my P-01 today. I have been accurate with it but she was hitting a good group standing at 25 yards. Took me by surprise since she doesn't like guns, but she had fun. This gun keeps better still breaking in and groups still getting smaller.
Purchased my P-01 five years ago and it's still my favorite. I was researching 9mm's and came across the P-01 and the story behind it's development for NATO etc.... Made my weekly visit by the local gun shop and they had one on the shelf, picked it up, couldn't have felt better in my hand and it headed home with me. I shot it couple of times a week for the first couple of years I had it but slowly it got left in the gun safe as I moved on to other interest, competitive rifle shooting. Well I pulled her out to renew my CHL and sure enough it was good to hold that girl again after a couple of years. Love my P-01
I owned a HK USP full size 9mm, a Sig Sauer P226, a Steyr M-A1, a Beretta PX4 Storm, i have Glocks, 21, 29, etc... I have a Walther p99, etc... And i never shoot a pistol like this one. The grip is amazing, the recoil soft, never a failure or jam, and is accurate like hell. At 25 yards stand, with no sand bangs, i hit all the clip in the center of the target easy. At 3 yards, all the bullets going trought the pinpoint center, at 7 yards same, at 15 yards i did groups of 1-2 inchs. When i shoot this pistol in the range everybody looking my targets and how i hit all, asking what pistol i have. Asking mee Glock and Springfield boys. Nothing shoot better that this pistol. The trigger is awesome, and after 800 rounds look like a tuned target trigger. This pistol is a state of art, with no rival. I owned several pistol, i'm going to the range every week, and this machine shock me. Now i'm going to trade my glock 21 for the cz 97b in 45acp. i Can't wait!!!
I recently took 12 of my co-workers to our local shooting club. I brought along almost all of my pistols & revolvers, and allowed any/all of them to shoot each & every one.The list of 9mm semi-autos included a Glock 17, a Sig P226R, a Springfield XDM 5.25, a Ruger SR9, a Beretta 90-TWO, a Smith & Wesson M&P 9 PRO series, an FNH FNX-9, an Armalite AR24-15C, and the CZ P01 and SP01 Shadow Target. There were several 1911's, and quite a few revolvers, too.The group ranged widely from fairly experienced, long-time shooters, clear down to complete novices, and 1st-time center-fire handgun shooters. By far, the 2 most asked for guns for a second and third shooting were the 2 CZ guns. The reasons were "most comfortable"; "feels better in my hand"; "fits me really well"; "I like the grips"; "shoots better"; it's more accurate";"they seem so much smoother than the others", and the list goes on. It was quite a testimony to observe this without any preaching or preamble. So, with me owning all these fine firearms, what do you suppose are my favorites? The Shadow Target is my regular USPSA competition gun, and my P01 is my regular carry gun....go figure!
The P01 (75D Compact) has been my daily CCW since two years now. I've had a few modifications done on it - competition hammer, meprolite rear sights and wood finish grips. Detailed review and range report > http://thegunforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=900
Over the past two years I have purchased 12 CZ rifles from .22 to the Safari .375 and 2 CZ 75 SP-01, 1 75 BD and finally, the CZ 75 P-01. I love shooting each and every one, and my only problem is deciding which ones go to the range on a given day. Each one has proved to be reliable, well made, look and feel great and are ACCURATE. The P-01 with factory night sights and light has become my home defense weapon. You can't go wrong with a CZ gun because CZ appears to be seriously dedicated to producing quality guns on a consistent basis for military, police and the general public.
For 10 years, im police Officer, detective in Police of a Czech republic. I have shoot from many types of pistols, but this is for me, is still the best one. With more then 10.000 shots trough my barrel, just a litle cleaned and still firing without no problems. Still accurate, few times fell to the ground, brake through the car glases. Never let me down. Better grip then Glock, sights are perfect for shooting and realoding. This gun is build like a tank. I believe in my pistol like the sun will come next day...ahh i forget, we use it with more then 10 types off ammo without any problems..it shoot everything
I purchased a satin nickel version of the full sized CZ-75B and received it two weeks ago. Have fired about 250 rounds so far and had no problems. It beaks down very quickly and easily and is easy to clean. My wife thinks it is a bit heavy, but both of us like the way it shoots. This is my first ever firearm and it will be my primary home defense weapon. I will be adding a grip laser to it and probably purchase another lighter weight model for her.
Today my son and I went out and we fired my new P-01 that had just arrived. I had owned two other CZ75 pistols in the past so my expectations were pretty high. I was very pleased that the P-01 performed just as flawlessly as the CZ75B and PCR did when I owned them. I regret selling those two aforementioned pistols but I was in a tough spot at the time. The P-01 will be my primary CCW pistol. I am very pleased with CZ's quality and reliability. What's next? Either another CZ75B or an SP-01.
I bought my P-01 in 2005 and have added some personal finishes to it, and am still doing so. I have shot thousands of rounds through it to date. Even though I own several handguns and have owned many, the P-01 is still my personal favorite. It fit my hand perfectly the first time I picked it up. It has always shot to point of aim without any thought or adjustment on my part. Every time I take it to the range I get lots comments, and when I let a fellow shooter "borrow" it for a few rounds they always say, "What is that, and Where can I get one?"I own a full size CZ Stainless, a CZPCR compact and other misc. firearms. I have owned many handguns throughout the years and the P-01 is a standout. I have never found a better pistol for accuracy, reliability, quality, ergonomics, or price, EVER! Thanks CZ for a great line of products.
Bought my P01 May 2011, I just passed 4,000 rounds through it.. The only FTF I had was a reload which I had slightly oversize(my fault) Even though I don't use it for competition, I shoot B16 targets at 25 yards with it, I am scoring mid 80s. Great shooter!!!!! I wouldn't change a thing on it..
As a Marine Corps veteran, I am used to being proficient in different firearms. This is my first handgun for conceal carry and I am very impressed. My model was manufactured in '05 and I purchased this used. 2000+ rounds through it and I have not had any FTE or FTF problems. I look forward to purchasing a full size CZ 75 later this year.
My husband is retired military and got me interested in shooting and self-protection. We went to a gun show and I picked up a lot of handguns. I kept coming back to the CZ 75 P01. It felt good in my hand and the balance was the best. After going home and finding out how much research and testing went into the P01, we bought one at the next gun show. It came with Crimson Trace laser, but I have since removed them laser and added some really nice wooden grips. I have never had a misfire in over 2000 rounds of new and reloaded 9mm. I have shot a lot of different handguns, and it is still my favorite! Highly recommend for women!
This is the first handgun I bought when I turned 21. I have put close to 2000+ rounds through this gun and have not turned back. Anyone I let shoot this gun always has the same thing to say "Where can I get one?" I can not wait to purchase the full-size version and see what the limits are on that one. Thanks CZ. Couldn't ask for anything more.
I sold a Glock to purchase this gun. One of the best firearm investments I have made. I will now be a CZ customer for life.
I've shot many guns to date and as far as a CZ 75 P-01 goes, there is no comparison. This gun wasn't exactly on my list. I was looking for a CZ TS or a 75 B SA, but after coming up empty handed I came across the P-01. I was ready to purchase the moment it went into my hand. Shoots effortlessly and can't really get any better for a right out of the box in this price range.
The P-01's DA/SA with decocker configuration combined with the best handgun ergonomics you are going to find anywhere results in a supremely comfortable and accurate pistol that is easy to shoot well. When you pick it up the P-01 just fits and feels right. This is my second CZ but I'm sure it will not be my last.
I had been searching for a new 9mm handgun for a couple weeks when I happened upon the CZ-75B and P-01 at my local sporting goods store. After drooling over its looks for a bit I went home and began my research. Needless to say I could not find a single negative review about either gun. The NATO rating for this weapon was a huge plus for me. The hardest part about returning to buy a gun was choosing between the 75B and P-01. I ended up purchasing the P-01 in OD green and I couldn't be happier. I put over 100rds through it the first time out to shoot. The gun simply feels wonderful and recoils so well that I immediately fell in love wth it. I love the fact that the P-01 will accept magazines from other 75 models of any size (in 9mm of course). I am an instant fan of these amazing firearms and am already looking at purchasing the 75B in a .40 cal. I can't say enough about the quality and downright sexiness of these guns.
I recently purchased a new CZ 75 P-01. I studied and read every article I could find before making the decision to buy one. It was hard to find in my market area but it was worth the effort. The first time I took it to the range my friends and I were amazed at the accuracy and great feel of the P-01. It is a great weapon. I now own two CZ pistols, having first bought a 2075 RAMI P for conceal carry. I love them both and my wife has all but taken the RAMI away from me. She loves to shoot the RAMI and now the P-01. Great job CZ. Now I have my eye on the Phantom.
So I've been kicking around buying a CZ for a long time and I finally bought the P01. I have owned and shot alot of pistols from all the major manufacturers. If I had to give all but one of them up, hands down I would keep the P01. It is not perfect, but for an out of the box factory produced weapon, it is the closest to perfection you will can get. It is my new carry gun and will not be the last CZ I buy.
When I'm not working in Iraq or Afghanistan repairing weapons for the US Military, I shoot with a group of friends who all own 9mms. I finally decided to break down and buy a "9", but which one? I looked at Glock (I'm a certified Glock Armorer) I looked hard at Springfield XDs, and the choice, for me came down to either the FN or the CZ. I got to shoot both at a range, and walked out of the store with a P01 on order. It's a decision I haven't regretted. Excellent ergonomics, zero mechanical defects, no safety to worry about (I'm an old wheel gun guy) but it has that wonderful frame mounted de-cocker that makes it such an easy and safe gun to carry, and one that I can rapidly get into the fight if I have to. No, you can't borrow my pistol!!!!
I just traded for this gun...shot it last week and I am impressed.
At 25-30 yards chewed a single hole in my target. Not a single stray shot! I'm amazed at the accuracy for such a short barrel. Makes me look like a marksman.
My PCR now has a baby sister! I bought the P-01 in case I ever want/need to go down to one 9mm pistol. It has all the great features of the PCR plus the light rail, and the extended slide lock and deeper/vertical rear-slide serrations were great improvements. I find that CZ's newer re-curve trigger is growing on me as I shoot more guns that have it; target groups with the P-01 are well within my needs. I would suggest that CZ widen the rail cut ever so slightly to M1913/NATO spec. My Streamlight TLR-3 will not fit with its Picatinny rail adapter; the thinner Glock key works if you crank down the light's retention screw.
I decided on and bought the CZ P01; a long process of analysis and comparison for me. Now I'm sorry I waited so long. The absolute reliability and accuracy of this pistol astounds. A bit more travel than I'm used to in the trigger, but after 1500 rounds through this pistol, it now feels natural. Not a single jam, using all kinds of ammo - white box, green box, plus some good stuff. One day of 500 rounds, no cleaning. Not a single jam. Your not going to believe your groupings, either. I've owned or own other brands. This is now my number one choice. Great job, CZ!
Ultra reliable and accurate. Actually took a grouse head off at 35 yds. It is my carry gun for protection and keeps the house safe at night. I wouldn't trade it.
Hands down the best handgun I've ever owned. Intrinsically more accurate than I am so that only I can miss, not the gun. It fits the hand so beautifully, has very manageable recoil and I have never had to deal with a stoppage in a year (and a couple of thousand rounds) of ownership. Very satisfying and reliable gun which could conceivably work as a concealed carry, but a bit bulky for me.
CZ Do not understand why this brand is not in the running for the Armys new pistol. 1,200 rounds fired from my P-01 in one day. One jam!
Just got my P-01 a week ago and its already my #1. Rediculous reliability aside, its crazy accurate , feels great, conceals well, and looks so darn sexy! thank you CZ for raising the bar without looting my wallet.
I bought my p01 about 6 months ago, and is by far my favorite pistol. I have shot countless rounds with no malfunctions, it's just a great shooter. I have also been using it as my daily carry and trust my life with it. Thanks CZ !
I have four 9mm pistols, including my CZ PO1. I love them all but my PO1 is by far the most accurate shooter and the most comfortable gripping pistol I have. I trust it with my life. It is always my first recommendation to anyone who asks me what make of pistol they should buy. Thanks for a great pistol, CZ! I just wish Bianchi made a leather Black Widow holster for the PO1...
This weapon is the greatest handgun I have ever owned. The P-01 reminds me of a Sig P229 because of it's size weight and features. But in my opinion the P-01 is the winner! The P-01 comes with features that CZ does not mention. The slide stop and mag release are extended. The slide is serrated front and rear so is the back and front strap. The mag well is even beveled. The P-01 also hold 14 rounds the mag the Sig P229 only holds 13 rounds. Another feature over the Sig is the extended beavertail. You have to buy the Sig P229 elite which costs $1100 if you want the longer beavertail. I hope you are getting the point. Also I have put over 2000 rounds down range with the CZ without one single malfunction. I'am a CZ fan for life they are great.
I have owned many different handguns through the years. I bought the P01 a few years back and have continued to be impressed by the quality of the pistol. I will be a CZ customer for life.
My CZ P01 is my authorized Department off-duty gun, and it rides with me everywhere. It has never failed me.
