The CZ 97 B is the big-bore brother to the CZ 75 B. It is operationally identical to the 75 B (SA/DA, firing pin block safety and magazine brake). Features include a screw-in barrel bushing, loaded chamber indicator and a double-stack magazine holding 10 rounds.
New features for 2013 are thin aluminum grips and a fiber optic front sight.

Bought my 97 used thought it was heavy and the grips too big. My friend let me shoot it before buying. My first grouping was 3 inches at 20 yds. That did it, I had to make it mine. It's now my favorite.
Very nice gun - Added 5 months, 2 weeks ago. Added by Wildcamaro
Ok bought a vintage first year model 97b that had never been fired other than at the factory. The gun has been my best firearm purchase because this gun is deadly accurate all the way out to about 30 yards. Action is smooth and the full rail really gives it an advantage over a traditional 1911. It is also not as hard to conceal as some may think. The grips provide great stability. I would recommend this to anyone in the market for a full size 45 ACP.

I bought the cz 97 after owning my cz75 for many years the fit and finish is amazing the pistol is a handful but is very accurate and the added weight from a full size steel frame helps reduce recoil i wish they would make this model in 10mm
After a ton of homework I finally purchased this pistol. I had a slight apprehension regarding the grip size because most places on the net you will read about how "big" the grip is. That's a bunch of horse pucky. I am 100% average in size and there was no issue. I did swap the grip for aesthetics but that's it. This is my new favorite pistol in my collection and one of the nicest feeling .45's I've had the opportunity to fire! I would highly recommend this gun to anyone in the market for a fine .45 auto.
Can't Have Just One! - Added 10 months, 3 weeks ago. Added by Dan
The CZ 97B is my fifth CZ pistol. Once you get bit by the CZ Bug ... I have owned .45 ACP 1911s by Colt and RIA, as well as an FNP-45, and the CZ 97B is a much more natural fit for me. It's relatively affordable, built like a tank, and accurate beyond my abilities. Thought about buying the BD version, but the 97B gives me 90% of what I want -- I only wish it had an ambi safety, as I am a lefty! Oh, well, this is a range toy, not a carry gun. As far as the oft-quoted bit about the grips being too big: I have long fingers, but I don't find the 97B to be that much bigger than the CZ 75 in terms of fit. It's bigger than a 1911 in the grip, but much more "gun-like" than my former power drill AKA the FNP-45.

I finaly bought a 97B with wood grips after I saw and handled one at my dealer. I had heard of the large grip and wanted one in my hands before I purchased one. Well it fits like a glove and shoots like a dream. The first few shots punched a large single hole in the bullseye at 10 yards with semi wadcutter bullets. I've had other members of the club try it, with much smaller hands than mine, and they didn't notice the alledged large grips. This along with my Shadow SPO1 are my favorites, reliable accurate, great ergonomic grips, what more can you ask for.

Several years ago I purchased a CZ-75 stainless w/rubber grips and tritium sights. I joined the Military in 1968 and have fired about every type of handgun and shoulder fired device there is. My CZ-75 is my pistol choice, very accurate and not a single malfunction in thousands of rounds fired. Wish I could get a 45 APC built just like it.

Bought the CZ 97b 1 year ago and have shot it several times since. Great gun, very accurate, easy to handle (with big hands), reliable with only moderate "kick". Also have a Colt Commander in .38 Super and the 97B will easily match it in accuracy. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another CZ, maybe the 75 next.

I bought a previously owned and never fired 97B a few months ago, and this pistol is the one for me.
She had 6 previous owners, and had apparently been used as trading fodder, I picked her up for a song....made in 1998, she is an early example. Very well made.
Shoots like a dream and is very reliable. I have large hands(a G21 chews on the web of my hand)and the fit is supreme. I just added aluminum grips with skate tape, and made a stainless full length guide rod. No function problems with any ammo tried so far, be it 230 grain wolf, or 185 grain jhp stuff.
Bigger mags would be swell, but I am thrilled so far.
I am considering adding a burris fastfire, or Docter optic sight....me thinks it will be a work of art.

2 years ago I attended a fun raiser at a local gun store. I won the CZ 97B from a raffle ticket. Yeah, WON! Pretty cool right? During my wait to receive my new found love, I read a few reviews. Although most of what I read was %99.9 positive, I kept hearing, "If you have big hands, or good gun for a big man". I was a bit concerned. Those doubts of this gun might not be right for me went right out the window once I loaded that 10 round clip and let Them fly! Look, I'm not a big man. I'm 5'7 and I'm pretty sure my hands are not very big. My hands are 6 1/2" by 3 1/2". This is a large gun none the less. If you feel your hands might be to small for a large gun like the 97B, maybe you should look elsewhere. Maybe your just not into large guns, but after 500 rounds, the 97B still feels great, shoots straight with no discomfort. You don't have to be 6 ft. tall to enjoy this gun. I forgot all about the "Big Man" talk once I was emptying clips. I love my CZ 97B!
This is one hellufva pistol! - Added 3 years, 3 months ago. Added by Ed
If you've got the hands for it, this is the .45 ACP to own. I find it just as accurate as high end 1911 models and much faster to clean and reassemble! It's very comfortable to shoot and when you pull it out at the range it always is an attention getter and its sheer impressive build attracts comments. Not for the small handed but a big man requires a big pistol. If Rooster Cogburn were alive today, he'd carry a 97B!
