The CZ 85 incorporates ambidextrous features into the basic CZ 75 platform including RH and LH safety and slide stop levers as well as a reversible mag release. The B model has a firing pin block safety that restricts any movement of the firing pin until the trigger is pulled. This mechanism prevents discharge in the event that a dropped pistol lands on its muzzle with enough force that the inertia of the firing pin overcomes the firing pin spring enough to touch off the primer.

Im left handed and ordered the CZ85 combat but got tired of waiting and bought the 85b. I wasn't disappointed. I didn't need the Combat This pistol is very accurate. I Bought it about a year ago and have over a thousand rounds thru it without any trouble. I like the all steel pistols, they just feel good in your hand.
I bought a "used" CZ 85 that was made in the CZ factory in Czechoslovakia in 1992. I say "used" because it was pre owned but it was still in the original box wrapped in grease paper and soaked in packing lube, it took hours to clean the 20 year old grease off the gun but after I did I found it had never been fired. I paid $200 for the gun and 2 magazines, I always thought CZ would be built like an AK, tough reliable but only because the parts were so loose that the tolerances allowed for dirt an grime, I couldnt be more wrong. the CZ 85 has amazing fit and accuracy at 20 yds I can unload a magazine as fast as i can pull the trigger and cover the group with my hand, and slow fire accuracy is around 2-2.5" with cheap plinking ammo and 1.5-2" with rem golden saber. CZ makes amazing pistols for great prices you cant go wrong with CZ I am A CZ customer for life the only other pistol I will buy is a 1911 then its nothing but CZ for me. if you want amazing accuracy and reliability for half the price of a sig and dont like polymer frame guns the CZ 75/85 is perfecr for you and if you want a light CCW gun they have polymer and steel compacts for that job as well.
I have been wanting a pistol for a while and was doing a lot of comparisons. before I made my decision, I wanted to try everything. I finally narrowed my choices to a few all-steel 9mm's. The CZ-85b fit my hand, was easy to get a sight picture on and felt solid. I grabbed the satin nickel version and couldnt be happier. It shoots like a dream and turns a lot of heads. Very fun to shoot and very accurate. I was getting 3" groups at 25' with no problem after a few magazines of ammo. It had the best grip feel of any gun like it. Cant beat the prices either. I highly recommend CZ pistols.
I recently came back from overseas and took a Concealed Handgun License Class with my wife. After the class we went to the shooting range to complete the last section of hitting the target. The instructor said load your magazines. I did, except my rounds were in the mag backward and thus pointed out by the instructor. I reloaded and fired when told. At the end of our session, the instructor pointed out in front of the class what i had did earlier and then noted, beside ex military personnel i score the highest on my target. The CZ 85 B is one of the most accurate guns i have ever shot keeping all shot fired from 15-25yards within 4" diameter!
I am so impressed that I wanted to share with everyone that the CZ 85B is excellent. How do I define excellent. Value - and the CZ 85B is a tremendous value. Accuracy - if a weapon system doesn't allow the shooter to shoot accurately then what good is it? The CZ 85B's trigger, sights, balance, all make the CZ 85B very accurate for me. See the attached photo, first time I shot it! That is 15 yards free standing! First time out, so I wasn't familiar with the pistol. It shoots great! Proof is in the target!
After trying a number of 9mm pistols, I determined that the CZ75 and derivatives suited me. I picked up an 85B from my local gun shop. After 500 rounds I am convinced I made the right choice. The gun has performed flawlessly, it is accurate, and easy to maintain. Everyone I have let try it out likes the feel of the pistol and the reduced recoil due to the weight and the slide riding inside the frame. Don't buy anything until you try a CZ.
Here is a CZ 85B at work at the Gunsite facility in Paulden, Arizona. Thank you for making a completely ambidextrious handgun!
