The Tactical variant of the SP-01 is available in both 9mm Luger and .40 S&W and utilizes an ambidextrous decocker in place of the manual safety on the standard SP-01. CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical models come standard with 3 dot tritium night sights.

I did a lot of research before purchasing this pistol. I've carried Glocks and 1911s in law enforcement, fired the Beretta M9 regularly while in the Army, but was never 100% satisfied with the function, accuracy, capacity, and comfort of any one - although all were great in their own respect. The CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical in 9mm is an amazingly comfortable firearm for a large handed shooter (grip length of a 1911, with a bit more girth), very accurate, and with more capacity than a Glock 17. It just doesn't get any better than this, for me. The only room for improvement would be the trigger, although it is breaking in quite nicely, and it is not at all a "bad" trigger, just a bit more creep than what I'm used to with my 1911. With a trigger job, I can't imagine a better pistol for duty, nightstand, travel, hiking, etc. Recoil is very manageable, sight picture is perfect, and it is hands down the most comfortable and ergonomic pistol I've ever held or fired.
Have been wasting money trying different pistols I could shoot with some accuracy at the range. The SP01 is my new best friend. Treats me right ... smooth and accurate.
My wife has a CZ 75 compact in 9mm and I have the full size CZ 75 in 40 with the ambi safety. We're both lefties and I still prefer my CZ to my fully ambi FNX even though it's a good firearm too. It's just hard to find spare mags. I'm a range safety officer and it's my carry gun but I did opt for some very nice VZ grips for it. Very dependable and very accurate but had to loctite the back site back on after it came loose.
I purchased my SP-01 a week ago and went to the range yesterday for the first time. From 20 yards out, hit all 16 rounds in a 4-1/2" group dead center mass. I couldn't believe it. Trigger pull is the smoothest I have ever felt in a 9mm straight from the manufacturer. My buddy was with shooting his S&W .40 and was so jealous after I let him shoot, he almost purchased his own SP-01 from the range we were at. I highly advise everyone to try this out at your local range.
I purchased my CZ 75-SP-01 Tactical approx. 1 year ago and I've had only one minor problem. my front tritium night sight stopped functioning. My pistol is smooth and straight shooting though I've shot 5,363 rounds through mine (It would be 5,400 but I have a full clip and 1 in the chamber and another full clip just in case) and haven't had any failure to go into battery, no hangfires and not a single stovepipe. I did have one FTF but I believe that was the ammo and not the gun. I am also still hitting inside an 8" circle @50 yds.
WOW! I just picked up my new CZ SP O1 Tactical. It feels amazing to shoot and the accuracy in un matched. I had about a 2 inch grouping at 21 feet, with a full 18 round mag. CZ has become my new favorite gun to shoot. Keep up the great work!
I own and shoot a ruger sr9c, springfield xdm, ruger p85, glock 19 and a sig sauer 226. All of these pistols are 9mm. I shoot 250 to 300 rounds per week at an indoor range. The CZ while not the most expensive gun is by far THE BEST. I can't miss with this pistol. Any time somebody at the range wants to challenge me I grab my CZ and whip them everytime. Thanks CZ for a GREAT GUN AT A GREAT PRICE !!
I've owned a PCR for a couple of years now, and just love it. I decided that I needed a full size weapon and bought a SP-01 Tactical. OMG !!! Have shot lights out since day one, plus NO issues. What do you expect, it's a C-Z! No buyer's remorse here....
Finally got my CZ SP 01 Tactical! cleaned it well like everyone from the CZ forum said so, went and got the cheap ammo for break in as the forum guys suggested!...(thanks guys) I have shot hand guns before but I'm no expert, have some military training in handling and shooting but aside from my brothers letting me shoot their guns, that's about it! Well, here's the story about my CZ, So I went to the range to break the gun in, I couldn't help but observe the groupings of the guy beside me, he was shooting a Glock 17 and he was all over the target...mine.. pretty darn good!. I felt so bad that I really wanted him to try my gun but I figured it would have insulted him. well, I think I did when I went to 15 yds on my target as he stayed at about 10 yds and still, my groupings were still way better! Thank you CZ for building a one heck of a gun!
I'm fortunate enough to live in The Phoenix area, near to Angus Hobdell's Custom shop, and paid them a visit this morning to shop for a new gun. Left with a fully tuned SP-01 Shadow T with Cocobolo grips. The workup sheet said the SA was 3.15 and the DA 7.2. Shot it this afternoon, and it is absolutely pure! What a great job they do. It is worth every penny for the upgrades and though I have several other handguns, this one goes to the head of the list. Thanks CZ!
Was able to get to the range last night and put the first rounds through my new SP-01 9mm. 100 shots fired without any issues. Gun feels great even with my relatively small hands - recoil very low - sights easy - accuracy superb! Couldn't be happier with my choice to buy this CZ pistol!
After evaluating several different makes and models of 9mm handguns, I finally decided on one and purchased the CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical. This is the first handgun I have ever owned so I took it with me to a basic handgun class. I attached a photo of my target from the class and as you can see, the picture speaks for itself. What a fine handgun! The instructor was very impressed as well. In fact, the 2 shots left of center and 3 shots right of center are from his gun which he let me try. His gun had more recoil and did not feel as comfortable in my hands as the CZ. Needless to say, I am thrilled with my CZ and I can't wait to get it back out on the range again. Thank you CZ for making such a fine handgun.
All I can say is, if you pick one up, be prepared to write a check. This gun feels perfect and is just right for big hands. It has a good heft that contributes to accurate recoil compensation and control. Shoots dead on flat, just gets better after 600+ rounds without a single misfire or FTF. The laser I added just makes it feel like cheating at 25 yards and further.
The SP-01 Tactical .40 cal straight out the box shot 500 rds of cheap dirty ammo with zero malfunctions during two trips to the range. Third trip to the range with 350 rds of cheap ammo, same results. Very easy shooting .40 the weight handles the recoil very well allowing fast follow up shots. Double taps and rapid fire feel easy. Very accurate. Ergonomics are near perfect even with my small hands. I will purchase another one that I will take care of and not abuse.
I have shot so many brands of hand guns in the Army, and in my free time. I did some research on the best ranked 9mm to purchase, and I was shocked to see this company called CZ ranked number 1. So I put my order in. I wanted to say Ive shot a better more expensive higher quality american made gun. But I cant!!! I love my SP-01. I cant find any thing I would change about the design or features. It out performs all other millitary firearms I have fired.
I just got this the other day. Went to the range put 100 shots through it what a gun.Shoots very well and the trigger is really smooth.really impressed with this gun.
I recently bought an CZ 75, 9mm. From the 1st shot I fell in love with this gun. It shoots flat and easy and is easy to clean. I am now in active mode of purchasing more CZ. Shoot it, and you will love it. This is the finest machined gun in the world, bar none!
About a month ago I decided it was time for a new pistol. I had originally thought i was going to get a Sig P226,but I wanted to do some research before I did. Yesterday, I bought the CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical and let me just say "I LOVE IT". I won't say anything bad about the Sig but after already putting 250 rounds through the CZ, I absolutely love it. You can not go wrong with this gun! This is the first CZ and the first .40 cal have owned and i couldn't be more pleased. Thanks CZ!!!
I didn't think it was possible to love a gun as much or more than I do my CZ 75 D PCR. Then I acquired the SP-01 Tactical in .40 S&W. What a shooter! It's the first .40 I ever owned that I put down at the range only after I ran out of all the ammo I brought and then some. The SP-01's all-steel construction and the extra weight at the muzzle afforded by the tac rail make a world of difference in control when shooting the high-pressure caliber, and the decocker has similar manual of arms to my compact 9mm (I'd recommend that CZ add ambi controls to the PCR or at least the P-01). I love the squared-off muzzle under a rounded slide at the end of a long barrel -- this gun reminds me of the M1912 Steyr from old Austria-Hungary. The rail works with both my LED light and my Xenon light/laser combo; it's my new nightstand gun.
